The “We are here to help your organization prosper” pledge posted on KPMG’s Montreal website, makes perfect sense, even beyond our borders.
In May 2026, four KPMG Montreal professionals will be flying to Dakar, Senegal, for a three-week international development mission, in partnership with CPA Without Borders (CPAWB) and Mer et Monde (M+M).
Operating in 145 countries, KPMG is one of the world’s largest networks of audit, taxation, and advisory firms.
The team’s mission speaks to KPMG Montreal’s commitment to give back to society by putting its expertise at the service of local organizations working with youth and women throughout the world in order to equip them with the accounting and management skills they need to face a better future with confidence and serenity. The Senegal mission is both part of KPMG’s broader effort and an organizational commitment of KPMG Montreal.
The Senegal mission is the first mission of its kind for KPMG Montreal, and it intends to make it an annual event. KPMG Montreal hopes to be able to offer an annual team of four or five accountants the opportunity to turn their skills to the service of different kinds of local groups with limited resources (i.e. associations, cooperatives, self-help groups, civil society organizations, mutual health insurance schemes, etc.) to help them better organize themselves in the areas of accounting, management, and good governance.
Founded by a group of chartered CPAs in 2013, CPA Without Borders (CPAWB) is a not-for-profit organization committed to making a positive contribution to the well-being of disadvantaged populations beyond all borders. With a view to sustainable development and strengthening local groups and associations, CPAWB’s projects promote professional development and partner learnings in the areas of sound fiscal management, good governance, ethics, and equity.
Founded in 1999, Mer et Monde is an international development organization that promotes solidarity, intercultural exchange and global citizenship education through its internship programs and development projects in collaboration with its local partners and community organizations.
This tri-partner Senegal experience, which began in earnest in September 2025 is about to bear fruit.
Preparatory sessions, team discussions, passports, plane tickets, inoculations, insurance, etc., have been front of mind since January 2026, and team members’ preparation is going well, as anticipation mounts.
For KPMG’s Montreal professionals, this is much more than a professional mandate. It is a human calling and an experience of sharing and reciprocity.
It is an openness to the world, a desire to give and to receive, a state of mind and a spirit of service, sharing, and reciprocity.
While sharing their professional knowledge and experience in Senegal, the team members will also be in a position to discover new management strategies and administrative practices, to immerse themselves in a different society, to appreciate its richness and values, to familiarize themselves with different cultural traditions and social conventions, all while working on site during the day, and living with local families in the evenings and on weekends. Team members will be based in the same district of Thiès for three weeks and housed with four Senegalese families that will welcome them into their family life with meals in common, shared recreational outings and simply the business of living together.
We wish KPMG’s Montreal team a most inspiring mission and look forward to learning about their experiences upon their return.
